Torpado Superlight X Frame & Fork: 58cm - Joe Bell Paint - Columbus SLX - Internal Routing - Pantograph Lugged Steel (EXC+)
This is the top level model Torpado made! It is a full on race frame, with top spec features such as fully internal cable routing on top tube and chainstay, milled/slotted Campagnolo dropouts, pantographed cutouts on all lugs/BB, Cinelli BB shell w/ integrated cable guides, & long tang fork crown with cutouts & panto. It was restored by Joe Bell in the last few years in a vibrant pink and deep berry candy, with paint matched Silca Impero frame pump.
The serial number is 10585, one could assume the 85 means 1985. The last year Torpado made frames was 1987 (though they recently started making modern carbon frames). The latest catalog scan of the Superlight models I can find features C-Record (meaning at very earliest 1985) and does not feature internal routings. I suspect this frame could be an 86/87 model.
Excellent restored condition with some miles since. Zero dents, cracks, rust, bends. The paint overall is brilliant and clear, though there are a few blemishes. The top tube has a line of light paint rub on the downtube (not worn through paint, just a bit less glossy) as well as 2 small chips. The driveside chainstay has a big paint wear spot from chain contact, though the chrome is clean. There's a chip on the bottom of the downtube below the P in the logo. Dropouts have a couple small chips. See photos, they display the blemishes pretty clearly.
