Ibis Cycles Steel Quill Riser Stem w/ Cable Guide: 1 1/8" - 85mm x 26.0mm - Vintage 1980's/1990's - Orange (EXC)
Rare handbuilt quill stem from the late 1980's to mid 1990's. This beauty features Ibis's original logo, a cable guide for cantilever brakes, and a lovely orange paint job. You'll notice the overall design is quite similar to the Salsa Moto, which comes as no surprise as Scot Nichol and Salsa's Ross Shafer were friends. The extension has quite the high rise, though not as high as traditional dirt drop stems. This stem and a similar angle are seen in the catalog/ads for a 1991 Cousin It tandem, and it would be great for cyclocross bikes too.
Excellent or better condition. Overall the paint is glossy and clear, with no fogginess or microscratching worth noting. There are a handful of paint chips here and there. Good enough for show bikes with patina!
