1972 Campagnolo Nuovo Tipo High Flange Front Hub & Flat Skewer: Kidney Cutouts, Special order for 1972/73 Motobecane Le Champion
In 1972, Motobecane asked Campagnolo to make a special hub for their top level "Le Champion" road bike. The result is a Nuovo Tipo hub, that replaced the round flange holes with kidney-shaped ones like the one on the Record hub. It looks just like a Nuovo Record high flange hub, just without the grease port. Comes with the original flat blade pre-CPSC quick release skewer, which is just like the Record except it has a non-chromed blade nut. Both axle nuts are stamped "72"
Remarkable barely used or never ridden shape. I was told the hub was built up into a wheel and never ridden. The bearings are buttery smooth and well adjusted. Hub shell and insides of the flanges are perfect. Skewer is close to perfect. Flanges have light spoke marks and a few marks on/around the bearing cap. Clean enough for most any show bike.
